a fourth birthday

The midwest Hart family gathered together to celebrate Luke's 4th birthday!  I got caught up in the baby madness (soooo many babies but I like it) so I wasn't able to catch as many photos as I would have liked to.   It was fun seeing everyone and watching the babies interact with each other!

The Birthday Boy. Day he was born vs. four years later!

So much fun!  Can't wait until the next one!

endings & new beginnings

On this first day of 2014, I spent some time reminiscing about last year.  There were a lot of great times and major events.

My favorite memory was the birth of my niece, Ellie.  She has brought so much happiness to our entire family. Excited to watch her grow!

Nate bought a plane!  We had a great trip to Columbus, Oh to pick up Lucy!

I think I broke my record of most concerts in one year!  Many awesome shows and great seats!

There was a plethora of delicious beer and other beverages!

These are a few shots from my favorite 2013 memories!

I always get excited for a new year.  A whole new year to make new memories and experience new things.  Cheers to a new year!

a kitchen redo

When Nate moved into his house he completely revamped almost everything...from painting ceilings to tearing up carpet and re finishing the hard wood floors and ripping out the entire full bath. It's beautiful and of course took him a very long time to finish.  Needless to say the kitchen was never touched but it is pretty neutral and a livable space.

There is a thing though...this obnoxiously UGLY faux brick back splash.   It's been haunting me since Nate and I started dating (3 years now) and I finally decided that it had to go.  It would have been a disaster to rip out (we would have had to drywall everything and start from scratch) so to save time and money we decided to paint it!  We went with white and I'm sure glad we did!  The entire kitchen feels so much bigger, brighter and refreshed!.  There is still some work to be done but for now it feels like a brand new space!

I love white on white.  it's clean and needs a few pops of color to make it fun!  Nate is not a huge fan of all white so we compromised and painted an accent wall (not my favorite but again, compromise!) I love the color we chose and can't wait to get something on that wall...I'm thinking white but we'll have to see!

ps- sorry about the crazy reflection light on the wall.

family

I went back to fort wayne this weekend to visit the family.  We gathered to celebrate Mom and Dads 29th wedding anniversary! The weekend was filled with laughter, visiting, drinks and lots of food.  A great way to kick off the best time of the year!

Ellie is definitely ready for the holidays in her red sweater, leggings and sweater boots.  So cute!

I love making memories with the people I love.

a friendly trip to Musgrave Orchard

Visiting an apple orchard with my bestie has been on the 'to do' list for quite some time... were talking about 8-9 years here.  we tried to go once back in college but it was closed and again last year but time slipped by us and we didn't make it.  I was determined to get there this year.  I mean, it HAD to happen. So we went on a Sunday afternoon and it was perfect.  The weather was perfect, the drive was perfect, the orchard was adorable and of course the apples were amazing.

They were selling caramel apples so of course we had to get one. I was in for a big surprise when the lade picked an apple from a box, stuck it, dipped it in caramel and rolled it in nuts RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I guess I assumed it was going to be dipped and in some sort of plastic holder. I'm so glad I was wrong!  It was the BEST caramel apple I've ever had (it was still warm).

I hope we can make it back next year (I'm already craving that caramel apple).

lets talk soon,
